Amleto Piccinno, PhD Student

Amleto Piccinno was born in Maglie (LE), a little town of South Italy, on 12/18/1979; on April 2006 he graduated in Materials Engineering for aeronautics and aerospace applications at the at University of Lecce, with the degree "Synthesis and characterization of collagen scaffold in Tissue Engineering"; during this work he could widen his knowledge in biomaterials field, overall about collagen and its chemical properties; moreover, he developed a good experience about the freeze-drying technique and the relative instrumentation.
Since september 2006 he has been collaborating with University of Lecce (biomaterials laboratory) to improve the scaffold production process and to carry out calorimetric, mechanical and rheological analysis both on the starting materials and on the finished product;
moreover he is engaged in the vascular prosthesis study and relative modality of impregnation (polyurethane and collagen) and cross-link.
  In January 2008 he startes his PhD program in Materials Engineering at the Department of Engineering for Innovation, University of Salento, focusing his research study on the development of porous collagen devices for peripherical nervous system repair.
